He has been a longtime collaborator of drummer and educator Pheeroan akLaff, performing together at New York’s Vision Festival and on numerous tours in Japan and the United States. Their duo album, Forest Ghost, features Miyake on tenor saxophone, flute, nohkan, shakuhachi, and distortion flute.

Based in New York and Tokyo, Miyake continues to perform, record, and collaborate with musicians in Japan, the United States, and around the world.
